More Productive with Windows Vista
September 12th, 2007
Despite some well-documented claims to the contrary, I think Windows Vista has really increased my productivity.
I got Vista a couple of weeks ago in order to test web pages in IE 7 for Moral Metic. We do have a Windows XP machine that I could have used, but it’s our mission-critical Quickbooks machine, so I didn’t want to risk setting up IE 7 and messing up Quickbooks.
Anyway, ever since I installed Vista under VMWare on my Mac Mini, I have been SO much more productive. Without Vista, I never would have had time to do things like organize my office, put up additional shelves in the closet, and rearrange furniture. All while waiting for Vista to do things. I am tremendously thankful for these opportunities to do mundane tasks that Vista has opened up, and I look forward to a future where we all have more time for things that just aren’t that important, and less time to do actual work.
Thanks Microsoft!

That nearly made me spit Pepsi out my nose, thanks for the laugh. Can I give M$ a big blinking red light on Moral Metric?

Yeah, I actually had a post on my pownce page about how I had so much trouble getting my wife’s new Vista-based laptop going. Great job Microsoft – you can only be overdone by Pets.com!

This is funny! :-) Thanks for the laugh.
I’m still running XP on all three of my computers. When it’s time to change operating systems, I have no idea what I’ll do, but I loathe the thought of switching to Vista. I’d like to migrate to Mac, but because of my business I need to run Premier versions of QuickBooks, which Mac does not have. I’m not a techie, so trying my hand at Linux sounds scary. sigh Oh well, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

Jennifer – you should consider getting a Mac and then running Windows using VMWare Fusion or Parallels. Both work great and let you run Quickbooks Premier for Windows right along side your Mac apps.

I was so close to installing Vista under BootCamp this week. I’ve got a separate Vista test machine, but thought it might be useful at some point.
I just couldn’t get myself to do it. It seems like the ultimate waste of a bootable partition on my sleek MacPro.
